Background
User wants to create heat tracing pipeline with two different line styles and both have different line weights. In this example, we will see how to create a multi-line style and how to use it to create custom pipeline.
Steps to Accomplish:
A. Create Multi_line Style
Launch OpenPlant PID application.
Select desired project file and unit, let’s say here imperial.
Multi line Styles dialog open, select on Create new multi-line style.
Edit all symbology settings as per requirement (line style, line weight, color, offset) and Save all the settings.
Launch Bentley Class Editor.
Open OpenPlant_PID.01.07 schema.
Supplement with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial.01.07 schema.
Navigate to ‘PIPING_NETWORK_SYSTEM’ class.
Right click on it and select Add Derived Class.
Fill the details as shown below.
Navigate to Heat Traced Pipeline Class and Add custom attribute.
Add Jumper Mapping Class.
In Add/ Remove custom attribute section, scroll down and select Schematics CAD custom attribute.
Fill data as highlighted below.
Switch to Pipeline List Class and right click on Class Name Display List class tab.
Add details as highlighted below.
Save all settings.
Launch OpenPlant PID and open DGNLIB file.
Go to File > Open > …dgnlibs > and select PIDProjectSymbols.dgnlib (refer image).
Go to Element > Element Template.
Go to Level Manager.
In the Level Manager dialog add a new level named Tracing Pipeline.
Give a name to Template as Heat_Traced_Pipeline.
Note: It should match with the name given in step 16 above.
Select Heat_Traced_Pipeline, right click on Right Panel space and Add > Mline style.
Set Multi line style as shown below.
Exit the DGNLIB file.
Now open the PIDProjectSymbols.dgnlib file.
In the customize dialog, Tools tab, expand the tree until you locate Major Pipeline.
Highlight the Piping node, right click and select Paste.
Select the newly copied tool and rename it to Heat_Traced_Pipeline.
With the new Heat_Traced_Pipeline tool selected pick in the Properties category, Key-in field and change the class name to Heat_Traced_Pipeline. (Matches the class name defined for the new line type in the schema).
Switch to Icons tab and click on ellipse button.
Browse the Icon and select OK.
Exit the Customize dialog.
Go back to Open Plant PID drawing file.
Element > Element Template > Utilities > Update Templates from Library.
Expand Piping Task, and Verify Result.
