Problem Description

The DGN file for raceways or equipment seems much larger than it should be, causing concern about continued growth and instability.

Explanation

Placing raceways and equipment inserts cell definitions into the DGN file that remain even if all instances of the item have been deleted.

Steps to Resolve

The file size may be able to be reduced by compressing the design file. 

1. Select File > Compress > Options
2. Enable the "Delete Unused Named Shared Cells" option
3. Click the Compress button or select File > Compress > Design.

Other compression options may also reduce file size.

Consider enabling Workspace > Preferences > Operation > Compress File On Exit to compress design files whenever they are closed to avoid unnecessarily large file sizes in the future.
