Column - User-Defined and Beam - User-Defined

To have your structural component available under the Column - User-Defined or the Beam - User-Defined, you can create a new Catalog Type with Tool Template as Place Structural Member.

This will make the Items that you create under this Type to be available with the Beam - User-Defined and Column - User-Defined tools. 

Column - Primary and Beam - Primary

To have your custom beam or column to be available under the Column - Primary or Beam - Primary tools, you have to create a new custom item under the default Catalog Types for Beam and/or Columns.

The above picture highlights the Catalog Types under which you can create a new Item in order to have that available under the Column - Primary or the Beam - Primary tools.
