Problem Description

When in OpenPlant Power PID and adding a new PLANT AREA value to the drawing settings have you ever wondered why it is limited to 4 characters and only upper case letters?

This is controlled in the OpenPlant_Supplemental_Mapping schema located in the WorkSpace\Projects\<project name>\Dataset\schemas directory. In this file under the classes node you will find the Plant Area class.

Steps To Resolve

  1. Start Class Editor and open OpenPlant_Supplemental_Mapping schema
  2. Select on required Associated Item Class and check Business Key Values Format Specification.
  3. Value in Format Expression field is a Parser Regular Expression

    Specifically this Expression states:
^Required in order to start the expression
    A-Z\dUppercase Letters A through Z and any number 0-9
{1,4}At least 1 character but no more than 4 characters
$Match at the end of the input - terminates the expression

  4. Edit this {1,4} by extending allowable count of characters from1 to 8

  5. Save changes and verify that you can create longer name Plant Area

NOTE: This only controls characters and field length in OpenPlant PowerPID. If connecting to the Plant Project Database you will need to adjust the respective table field names in the database to accommodate a larger field size.
