Background

In Piping Isometrics, it is certain that a pipeline containing multiple components outputs a complex drawing, thus not able to read labels and tags properly. To control this type of case, drawings get split in to multiple sheet to facilitate a good readable drawing. Splitting of sheets can be considered based on various criteria, Attributes, component counts etc. Using OpenPlant Modeler, to break the pipeline in to multiple iso-sheet, an isometric breakpoint is required which generate multiple iso-sheet automatically.

Below is the default Isometric Configuration dialog with Automatic Iso Splitting option.

See Explanations below

Split Options

Do not Split

If Selected, the isos will not be split into multiple sheets through OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. For OpenPlant Modeler user, this option can be used, where multiple iso-sheets already processed in OpenPlant Modeler. It will use the same iso-sheet processed in Modeler and generates the correct output. Check steps described in later section for details.
When changing this setting, it is recommended to clean up the drawing output directory to avoid confusing results.

Split on Attribute

Create a new iso sheet whenever the selected attribute value changes between two components. NOTE: Only attributes with a numeric value must be used, e.g. SHEET_NO

Split on Iso Breaks

Create a new iso sheet whenever a (user defined) Iso Break is encountered

Split on Component Count

If the number of piping components for the isometric drawing exceeds the preset value, the iso is split up in multiple sheets.

Max Number per Sheet - Maximal number of components allowed on one Iso Sheet. If this number is exceeded, the iso will be split in multiple sheets.
NOTE: The value must be higher than 10.

Min Number per Sheet - Minimal Component Count per Iso Sheet.
NOTE: The value must be higher than 0 and lower than “Maximal Component Count”.

Sheet Name Format

Iso Sheet Number Suffix - Format for the sheet Number to be appended to the iso name if the iso is split over multiple sheets

Sheet continuation Label Format

Continued On - Format of sheet continuation label to next sheet, if the iso is split in multiple sheets

Continued From - Format of sheet continuation label from previous sheet, if the iso is split in multiple sheets

Connectivity Checker

If Selected, disconnects in the isometric will be reported by the iso generating process. Disconnected parts of the iso however will come out as separate sheets

See below description on handling Multiple iso-sheet option in case of OpenPlant Modeler-OpenPlant Isometrics Manager

Steps to Accomplish

For OpenPlant Isometrics Manager Version SS6 (08.11.11.XXX)

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler.
  2. Place use model with a pipeline containing multiple isometric break points.
  3. In Pipeline Manger, using “AutoGenerate Iso-sheet” option, generate multiple iso-sheets.
  4. Publish I-model.
  5. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.
  6. Open “Isometric Configuration” dialog.
  7. Use “Do not Split” option from the dialog. See image below.

  8. Go to Advanced Tab, click on “Explore Style” option.

  9. Select style and go to config folder.
  10. Copy node2da.txt file from new installed build. Check default path below for OPModeler_Metric Project using IFC style.
    (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantIsometricsManager V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Isometrics\Styles\IFC\config)

  11. Paste it to corresponding config folder under desired project, like explained in step 8 & 9.
  12. Open file Node2da.txt.
  13. Comment 18 & 19 for SHEETNO & NO_SHEETS using #. Un-comment this PRESPLIT_SHEETNO & PRESPLIT_NO_SHEETS as shown in below image.

  14. Save & close this file.
  15. Generate Isometrics and verify results.
  16. User will be able to get split iso-sheet and number displayed correctly in title block.

Note - For Sheet number format, it is advised to use NUMBER property exclusively separated by "-" sign to generate in a correct sequence.

  17. Check default output in below image.
