In OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition, requirement is to define display styles by creating rules.

Background

Sometimes user need to define the display of the elements based of certain criteria as per their requirement which could be based color, style etc. To do this we can use a feature called Display Style

In Display Style, we will define the Display rules of the elements based on our requirement according to select different symbology overrides like line style, line weight, color, transparency.

Below is the illustration for creating the Display Style for pipe, pipe elbow which has WireFrame as Display Style

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open the Model in OPM CE as shown below.

  2. Click on the VIEW ATTRIBUTES option from the Presentation ribbon.

  3. Once the View Attributes dialog opens, click on the three dots to open DISPLAY STYLES dialog.

  4. Now Click on New at the left corner + button to create new rule, here Pipe_Color (you can edit name of the rule any point of time)

  5. To define rules, click on the icon with small pencil. Once the Display Rules window opens click on NEW to define Display Rule Set from the left corner and name the ruleset as Pipe.

  6. In Condition Editor, click on the pick property you wish to set the rule and once selected click on Symbology overrides under action tab and change display overrides. Illustration below.

For Example : Select property for pipe, pipe elbow 90 degree and select display style Override as wireframe.

Click New to Define Display Rule > click on Applies Always > Pick Property > Select the element > Expand Pipe > Miscellaneous and select EC Class Name and click on OK.

Under action tab click on +Icon to add new action and select Symbology overrides. Click on Edit Symbology overrides (we can select different Symbology overrides like line style, line weight, color, transparency).

Repeat the same for Pipe Elbow 90 Degree and add Symbology overrides and select WIREFRAME.

  7. Ensure Under Display Rules > Pipe is active as RuleSet and Display Style in Pipe_Color. Close the Display Style window.

  8. Click on Apply Display Style from Presentation ribbon and select the Display style which is created and click on the blank space in the model.

Verify Results: Illustration of created rule: Pipe_Color
