How to Create a new SQL Database and Synchronize AutoPLANT Project to it

Overview

The Brief steps will outline how to create a new SQL Server Database which will serve as the repository for all data that is created thru Bentley AutoPLANT Application that can sync and write to newly created SQL database.

Steps to Accomplish

Note: Make sure to close AutoPLANT application. All steps will be covered under 2 major steps. 

1.Creating new SQL database and assigning rights to the Database.

a. Connect to SQL Server Management Studio and create a blank Database in SQL Server Management Studio as per below given steps.







b. After creating new Database go to Security/Login and assign the mentioned rights to the Newly created Database. Here Group of Windows User or Single Window user can be assigned rights for the Database.





 

c.Once the DBO (DB owner) rights are assigned for the given Database and Login, now user can Synchronize the Database with newly created AutoPLANT Project or Unpackaging any Project)

2. Creating New Project from AutoPLANT Client Machine and Syncing above created Database.

a. Open AutoPLANT Project Administrator from Client Machine and Create/Unpackage any Project using Database type as SQL Server. (Multimode mode Project can be option to have a single database for Multiple Projects)

 b. Now select Project Unit Type and check on the Central Project Mode as shown in Step 6 ( This Enable drawing database storage on SQL Database centrally)




c. Fill in the required details for Project and click Finish.

d. Put Server details and login using Windows/SQL Authorization (If SQL Authorization is used make sure to check on All Saving Password as shown in Step 13 in below screenshot and after selecting Database from List click OK)
