Background

Bentley Raceway and Cable management referencing tools let you view other models as you work on the active model.
You can reference models from the open DGN file, or from other DGN's that may or may not currently be opened by other users. Similarly, other users can reference the model that you are working on. Referencing is a powerful tool in a multi-discipline workflow; in particular, where many people are working on different aspects of the same project.

DGN files with attached references are being widely used for design projects. The
ProjectWise Explorer document management tool is very useful for tracking these references. Using this tool we can see the following:

This information can be viewed without opening any document and is very useful for DGN files with a large number of references.

This wiki article will provide steps to track the references.

Steps To Accomplish-

  1. Open the Design file folder in ProjectWise Explorer.
If there are references attached to the DGN file then the file icon of the DGN file will display a map subicon as shown below:

  2. Right-Click on the desired document and click on ‘Set’ and then ‘Show References’.

  3. A dialog will open showing the references attached to the DGN file.

  1. From this dialog, if there are further references in the referenced file we can navigate to that also by executing the same steps.

  1. If any file is referenced by any other DGN file then the tool ‘Referenced By’ can be used.

  1. If the file is referenced by any DGN then it will provide the list of DGN files referencing this file.

If the file is not referenced by any DGN then it will show a message indicating no documents found.
