Using BRCM Report Variable in ProjectWise Managed Workspace.

Product(s):Bentley Raceway and Cable Management and ProjectWise Explorer
Environment:N/A
Area:BRCM ProjectWise Variables
Subarea:N/A

Background

ProjectWise integration of Bentley Raceway and Cable Management enables the user to use a custom location in the ProjectWise managed workspace to save the Reports. This is useful if you wish to have your project reports under document management control.

The variable pointing to the report location can be used in two ways Fixed and Dynamic.

  1. Fixed value: A ProjectWise Folder can be selected where all the reports are stored.
  2. Dynamic value: This variable can automatically point to the workspace and Project name and the specific folder whrere reports need to be saved.

Steps To Accomplish

For Fixed Value

  1. You can assign a fixed ProjectWise folder for the variables. Please follow Step 7 to Step 13 from the document below:

ProjectWise Managed Configuration Setup Guide - Create a New WorkSpace level CSB

  2. You can also create a new Configuration settings block (CSB) under any required level, and add the report variables under that.
To create a CSB at the required level right click on the level and click New > Configuration Block.

  3. The New Configuration block properties dialog will open.
Provide the Name and the Description of the CSB and click Apply.

  4. Click on the Configuration tab and click on the ‘+’ icon to add a new variable.
Repeat the same steps as explained above in Step 1.

For Dynamic Value

  1. When you are working on multiple projects and all the report data of the project should be saved at a particular folder in the corresponding project, then you can use a single variable for the BRCM Reports that will work dynamically for all projects.
Here in this example, we can see one folder is created in both projects/worksets. This is the desired folder where we need to save the reports.

  1. We will assign a dynamic value for the report variable.
In the New variable dialog define the following variable information and click Add to add the new variable::
  1. In the Edit Value dialog that displays, set the following values and click OK:

  1. Review the variable information.

  2. If you have created a new CSB, make sure that the CSB has been assigned to the work area.

  3. The variable _USTN_WORKSETROOT is a common variable for all worksets and it is defined in the CFG file of the workset.
When we are exporting any report the variable will automatically look for the active workset and will point to the report folder.

  4. You can use any _USTN_ variable according to your requirements. These variables are generally defined in the CFG file of the Workspace and Workset.
