Background 

Sometimes users face issue while creating any WorkSpace or WorkSet as nothing happens upon clicking on any icon . In other words,users are unable to create workset using OpenPlant Project Administrator is due to missing short text character as OpenPlant Project Administrator unable to reads short text path, so we need to enable it using cmd prompt. 

Below steps can be used to enable short text characters.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Open the File Explorer, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Bentley and type cmd in the place of Path to open Command Prompt Dialog box. Check below image.
   
   
   
   
   
2. Once cmd is typed and after hitting Enter, we will see cmd prompt dialog with path C:\ProgramData\Bentley.
   
   
   
   
   
3. Beside the path now type dir /x to open the whole directory and to see which all application has already been enabled.
   
   NOTE : If shorttext is not enabled , the below list highlighted in green will not be shown and we have to enable it.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Now let’s try enable short text character. Close the already opened cmd prompt dialog.
   
   
   
5. Open cmd prompt from start menu and run as admin which will open cmd prompt as Administrator.
   
   
   
   
   
6. In the window, the cursor will in the default location and type in fsutil behavior set disable8dot3 0. Once entered it will enable short-text for all volumes. i.e. C drive, D drive etc.
   
   
   
   
   
7. Once all the above steps are done. Uninstall the application (OpenPlant Project Administrator) from control panel.
   
   
   
8. It is also recommended to delete the residual files manually from installation directory (Bentley folders) from C:\ProgramData\Bentley,C:\users\username\AppData and delete Bentley application from Bentley folders and Restart the machine.
   
   
   
9. Install the application and verify the results. To verify repeat step 3 and it will list all the applications as below.
