Why don't all of the elements in a design model export to IFC COBie
COBie is a subset of IFC, i.e., only selected objects are extracted from the model and are included in the COBie spread sheet. The objects that are extracted are those defined by COBie as being Physical assests that will require maintenance or tracking, e.g, chairs, light fixtures, etc.
Walls, columns and slabs are not generally included in the export as they are deemed not to require maintenance.
As the (FMH) Facilities Management Handover/COBie Model View Definition (MVD) is focused on ‘manageable assets’, elements such as walls, columns, beams, slabs, stairs, etc. are excluded and not exported. The excluded IFC classes are defined in:
…/Dataset_<region>/setting/IFC_COBieFilter.set.
If you comment out classes, they will be exported, but that may violate the MVD. To comment add double-slash (//) in the front of the line. Do not forget to enable type object classes when you enable entity class.
