To Fix Support Rotation Issue By Manual Rotation or By placing supports using OpenPlant Support Engi

Background

In OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition,sometimes user needs to place supports on the deviated pipe line (not vertical) and supports in OpenPlant  gets placed in improper way. Illustration below.

Problem Description

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler Connect Edition, from the desktop icon.



  2. Create a new test file and place a simple arrangement of Pipe as shown below. Now a place few Support on the vertical pipe and observe the orientation looks good.



  3.  Now create another arrangement and deviate the vertical pipeline by 1 degree (let’s say) and now try to place supports on the vertical pipe and Notice that support gets insert into the vertical pipe.
      

    To fix this scenario, we have two different workflows.

    1. First, we can rotate the support manually by changing the angle in the element property window under geometry section.

    Click on the support which needs to be rotated and give it an angle of rotation. Results Below

    For 90 Degree





    For 45 Degree



    2. Secondly, to use the support from OpenPlant Support Engineering.

    Place the supports from OpenPlant Support Engineering.

    Select the Vertical Deviated pipe > select the Support to be placed and double click on the pipe and Hit OK.




    Now select the angle of rotation in the path selection window. (illustration below)



    Here we shall give the rotation angle as desired (highlighted) and drag slider for angle.
