How to Place Cell-Based Equipment from the Components Center

Background

Components Center is a cloud service that will provide you with the latest components, manufacturing catalog objects that can be used in the design, structure, and operational workflows. In the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, you can place cell-based equipment from the component center and create your own organization-defined catalogs.

This article describes the procedure to place the cell-based Equipment from the Components Center.

Note: Users must have required rights and permissions to use Components Center on their machines and should consult with their Project Administration Team beforehand.
Open the Components Center Web Portal with Google Chrome for better experience.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Select a project and open a design file for example Equipment file.
  2. Select the Manage ribbon tab and select Options from the Project Setup ribbon group.
  3. Check the "Enable Components Center" checkbox to use the Components Center in the equipment manager.

  4. By selecting the “Include all applications content” radio button, it will grey out the applications selection and will include all the categories in the equipment manager from every listed application.


  5. To use the content suitable for Bentley Raceway and Cable Management and continue to work with the consistent units, it is highly recommended to Select "Include contents from these applications” and then Select the application with the desired working unit.
    Here, in this example Select "Bentley Raceway and Cable Management Connect Edition Imperial" from the applications list, then Click Apply to save and press OK.


  6. Now, Open the Equipment Manager from the Equipment & Cable ribbon tab.


  7. Under the Place Equipment Tab select the Component Center Radio Button.
    You can Select “Bentley Systems” from the pick list to place components provided by Bentley systems.
    But, in this example we will Select “My Organization” which will allow you to place the content created by your organization’s admin.


  8. Select a Category from the pick list, for example Motor, Category can have many individual components and how to use them is explained in the next step.


  9. In Equipment Properties section, Select the Component from the "Cellname" Property using the dropdown menu. for example, "MotorSmall".


  10. Click Ok and Place the Component in the File.
