Background

In ProjectWise explorer, the requirement is to create new design files in the managed environment. This wiki article explains the steps to do so.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Launch ProjectWise Explorer/Client CONNECT Edition
   
   
   
   
2. Double click on the desired data source & log-in with the appropriate password as shown
   
   
   
   
3. Expand the workspace folder & Search for the design files folder.
   
   
   
   
4. Right-click on the empty space & create a new document as shown
   
   
   
   
5. Select advanced wizard from the wizard dialogue & hit ok as shown
   
   
   
   
6. Once done, the Advanced document creation wizard will pop up. Hit next as shown
   
   
   
   
7. Select the target folder in which file to be created & click on next as shown
   
   
   
   
8. To select the template file, click on select > select template file > Open & Hit Next as shown
   
   
   
   Note: One can browse to any other folder to choose the template document.
   
   
9. Hit next on the resolve document name conflict dialogue as shown.
   
   
   
   Note: If we check on the create a new version, this meant that the Name, Filename & Description of existing documents are preserved.
   
   
10. Enter the desired name, description (if needed), select Application & click on next as shown
    
    
    
    
11. Click on next to the confirmation window for the new document as shown
    
    
    
    
12. Click finish on the successful document creation dialogue as shown
    
    
    
    
13. As shown, the new file is created in the folder successfully.
