Controlling the elevation of 2D Electrical Symbols

Background

After placing electrical symbols the 2D cells are falling below other objects (say slabs) due the required elevation for the 3D portion, so with Drawing Symbols enabled in the Forward View these 2D components are missing in the drawings (see example in step 2 below). How can I control the 2D cell so that it aligns with the 3D portion?

Steps to Accomplish

1. Place an Electrical Symbol, such as a Switch

2. An elevation difference between the 3D and 2D symbols is observed.

3. In the Electrical ribbon under the Symbol section, choose 3D Properties from the drop-down list.

4. In the Object Properties dialog enable the “Use 3D elevation for 2D symbol” option

5. It is now observed that the 2D symbol falls at the same elevation as the 3D symbol.
