Question

I noticed a cache.ucf file in my local user prefs folder that I don't remember seeing in previous versions. What does this file do?

Answer

The cache.ucf file, whose location is defined by the configuration variable _USTN_CACHECFG included in msconfig.cfg, contains the most recently used Configuration folder, WorkSpace name and WorkSet name, along with the variable _PROJECTWISE_DRIVE.

The last used WorkSpace and WorkSet names were previously stored in the Personal.ucf file. Moving these two variables to cache.ucf and adding the last used Configuration folder helps to support the Manage Configuration tool.
