Overview

From OpenPlant Update 9 release, handling of schema editing has been improved and new prompts will be observed when adding any classes to the OpenPlant 3D or OpenPlant PID schema.

Background

For a PlantSight enabled workset, to work smoothly any new addition of classes to OpenPlant 3D or OpenPlant PID requires the same class to be added in OpenPlant schema as well. Up to OpenPlant Update 8, we were following the same approach and making those changes twice. From OpenPlant Update 9, improvement has been done and addition of any classes to OpenPlant PID or OpenPlant 3D will prompt a message about adding the same class to OpenPlant schema as well. This will avoid the duplicate task. In this wiki article, we will add a new class under Generic Instrument class.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition Update 9.
  2. Select application icon from desired workset and click on Schema Editor, refer image below.

  3. From Schema Configuration dialog, search for Generic Instrument. Right click on Generic Instrument and select Add Derived Class, refer image as shown below.

  4. Enter desired class name and click on OK.

  5. Notice that upon OK, application prompts message for addition of same class in OpenPlant schema. Click on Yes. This will include (add) the same class to OpenPlant schema as well.

  6. Select newly added class, select NAME property, and click on Mark as Business key.

  7. Save all the schema changes, load OpenPlant Modeler Connect and confirm placement.

Note: In selected specification, record for added class must be available for its placement.
