After using the Cut Solids by Curve tool on a specific solid I later try using it again, but now I’m getting the error ‘Element is not valid for the tool’. How can I fix this?
When using the Cut Solids by Curve tool there are ‘Features’ added to the solid. In some case a specific feature may not have been generated correctly and could block the Cut Solids by Curve tool from working. In these cases there are two options available using the Building Element Info tool:
1. Delete the specific feature that is causing the error.
2. Move that feature to the bottom of the list.
First method
1. In the ribbon bar, click on the ‘Building Element Info’ icon from the ‘Common Tools’ tool group.
2. Then select the problematic solid to open the ‘Building Element Info’ dialog box.
3. Next, click on the ‘Features’ tab. Select the problematic feature from the list and click on the ‘Drop to Solid’ button. Then finally click on the ‘Apply’ button.
After doing so the problematic feature should be removed from the solid so that the Cut Solids by Curve tool can again be used.
Second method
This method is only recommended when the problematic feature cannot be removed.
1. Select the feature as outlined above and click on the ‘Move Down’ button until it becomes the last one in the list.
2. Click the Apply button.
Then again you should be able to use the Cut Solids by Curve tool.
