Background

While placing Pipeline in P&ID flow arrows are most important one, Hence in OpenPlant PID CONECT Edition got the feasibility to set the default flow arrows on pipeline as it gets placed completely through Show Flow arrows option.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Launch Bentley Class Editor CE .
   
   
   
   
2. Bentley Class Editor can also be launched through OpenPlant Project Administrator CE.
   
   
   
   
3. In OpenPlant Project Administrator, Click on OpenPlant PID application for the required project in WorkSpace and click on Tools.
   After clicking on OpenPlant PID, in Tools -> Class Editor icon gets enabled as shown in image below.
   
   
   
   
4. Considering OpenPlant_ Metric : Open the OpenPlant_PID.01.08.ecshema.xml & supplement it with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08.ecshema.xml through below default std path. (OpenPlant_PID.01.08.ecshema: Std Path(C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\WorkSpace\WorkSets\OpenPlantMetric\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas)  
   
   
5. Go to Piperun or type in search,”Piping_Network_Segment”
   
6. In Piperun properties click on ShowFlowArrows and it can be observed that in Property Custom Attribute Default Value is set to False.
   And to change the value to True, Click on Override as shown in image below. Presently Showflows Arrow is inherited from RUN as it is override it will be changed.
   
   
   
   
7. Click on Custom Attribute and Add/Remove. Such that Add/Remove Custom Attributes dialog box gets launched. It can be noticed all the Custom Attribute-Category, Property Custom Attributes & Requires Reload in Applied Custom Attributes section has location OpenPlant_PID.01.08. hence the respective value cannot be changed.
   
   
   
   
8. Change the location from OpenPlant_PID.01.08 to OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08 through double click or by clicking on dropdown arrow.
   It would be helpful if all the custom attributes location is changed to OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08.
   And hit Ok
   
   
9. In Property Custom Attribute we can change False to True easily as shown in below image.
   And it can be noticed that all changes are getting saved in OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08 level schemas.
   After changes click on save.  
   
   
   
   
10. Launch OpenPlant PID CE.
    
    
    
    
11. In dgn place a Pipeline and it can be observed that on completing the process of placing the pipeline the arrows in default ways gets generated on it.
    
    
    
    Even Show Flow Arrows get by default is selected and in properties Show Flow Arrows is set to True.
