Background

When there are multiple users working on the same project and working locally (File Based Mode without ProjectWise) then there is a need to put the workspace on a shared drive that can be accessed by all the engineers. An administrator needs to make sure that all the users can get access of all the files which need to run application for that particular project. In order to do that configuration files need to be modified which point to the workspace folder.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open Windows Explorer and map desired network drive as shown

  2. Network drive is now added as shown

  3. Open the configuration from a network which needs to be set as default. Please see the attached image below

  4. Copy the Path "Y:\ABCD_CONFIG".

  5. Open msdir.cfg file in a notepad. File is located in "C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\OpenPlantPID\config" folder.

  6. Paste the copied path of the mapped drive as shown

Note that, backward slash " / " is important at the end.

  7. Save the changes and launch OpenPlant PID to verify the result.

Notice that, application is pointing to the network path as set.
