How to Create a Custom Instrument in OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

Background

In OpenPlant PID CE, requirement is to create a custom instrument for the frequent use in the project. change the date according to demand. This wiki article explains the procedure for the same.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.



  2. From drawing, place a desired graphics with the help of placement tools as shown



  3. Change the workflow to OpenPlant PID, select the graphics & click on create component from element as shown



  4. A build new component dialogue will now pop up on the window. Enter the new class name, select the base class & click on Next. Refer the attached image below



  5. Select the cell library & give the origin point to the component as shown & click next.



  6. Now add the required annotation for the component with the help of “Add” option as shown



    For example:

    upon clicking on add, a new Add annotation tab will open. Select any property, text style, placement count & hit on ok as shown



  7. Now the DGN Library will be selected. Click on instruments class, check on the box if a component is to be used as an icon, change the color if required & click on finish.



  8. Notice that the new instrument is now added in the list



  9. Click on the created instrument, enter the fields to annotate as selected in step-6.



  10. Once done, notice that the component is placed with the desired annotations as shown
