How to change the component color template in OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition

Background

In OpenPlant PID, Components are displayed in its default color. This article will help you to change the default color of the component.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

  2. When interface opens then Go to file ribbon tab and Browse.



  3. Open PIDProjectTemplates.dgnlib from below path.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\PID\DgnLibs



  4. In upper left corner change workflow from OpenPlant PID to Admin.

  5. Click on Level Manager. You can see the default Equipment color is Red.





  6. You can change level color of Equipment or add New level as Test Equipment and define level color, style, size. Close the Level Manager.



  7. Click on Element Templates from Collections ribbon group.



  8. In Element Template dialog box, expand PIDProjectTemplates.dgnlib. You can find various Element templates.



  9. Click on PIDProjectTemplates.dgnlib and click on New Template Group. Rename it as Custom.



  10. Click on Custom Template group and add New Template as Test Template.



  11. Do the General settings of Test Template as given below. Select Levels – Test Equipment. You can keep the colors, Line Styles, Weights as per level or Change it as desired.



  12. Save and close the OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

  13. Open Bentley Class Editor CONNECT Edition.



  14. Open OpenPlant_PID.01.08.ecschema.xml schema from below path. Here project unit is metric.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas



  15. Supplement with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08.ecschema.xml from below path.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas



  16. Navigate to Horizontal Centrifugal Pump class. Go to class and Schematic CAD custom attribute.



  17. Change Element Template in Schematic CAD Custom Attribute as shown below.



  18. Save and Relaunch OpenPlant PID.

  19. Place Horizontal Centrifugal Pump and you can see the color of equipment changed.
