How to Import STEP(.stp) File into OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition.

Background

In OpenPlant Modeler there is a feasibility to import solid model which would be in the form .stp format i.e STEP file. This Option would help user to import the solid model into the dgn and work further on it.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler


     
  2. Select a project e.g OpenPlantMetric and create a new dgn. 
    As soon as it is created click on File tab in dgn below OpenPlant Modeler workflow.



  3. Notice Initial menu  of OpenPlant Modeler get launched, Click on Import.
    Three options gets enabled as soon as clicked on Import, Select option Import File Data .
    In Import File Data further select Exchange File Type, Lastly  STEP(*.stp)  option as shown in below image.



  4. Dialog box with Import STEP AP203/AP214 File Form gets launched to select the STEP. Incase if the file is named with an extension .STEP then to get imported it should be redefined with an extension .stp itself.



    Select location through address bar where the STEP file is being stored, Select the *.stp format such that the file with an files  extension .stp would be available to select .
    After selecting the Test.stp which consist of Solid modeling hit on Open as shown in image above.

  5. In  dgn small dialog box -Import STEP AP203/AP214 File gets launched . Verify the file i.e Test.stp selected and click on Import.  



  6. Notice solid model get imported instantly into dgn and then it can be saved into existing or another dgn and  ready to work on.



    Thus easily importing STEP file with solid modeling in OpenPlant Modeler CE.
