Overview

Rendered 3-D images of the daylighting conditions in your rooms can be produced in OpenBuildings Energy Simulator, along with the daylight factors throughout, as demonstrated in the below video:

Method

Go to the Calculations tab and select Daylight.

On the right side, under Views select Add:

This will then bring the focus back to your building model, and allow you to pick the room in question. It is recommended that these steps are carried out in top-down, plan view. In order to Select the room in question, you may find it easier to show one room only:

After selecting the room it will change to pink, and will then prompt you to Select View point:

Left-click in the room to place the first point, and left-click again to place the second:

Focus will return to the Daylight menu and the coordinates of the View Point will be listed:

Ensuring that the room has been selected in the Room Selection window, click on Start:

Once complete, the rendered images from your View points will be displayed on the Room Views and Contour Views tabs.
