Problem Description
How can I resolve the "Configuration variable BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA not defined" error in OpenBuildings Designer for a newly created WorkSpace and WorkSet?
Steps to Accomplish
Please follow the below steps through which you can quickly resolve the BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA error for a newly created workspace.
- After creating a new WorkSpace and WorkSet in OpenBuildings Designer, when you create a new file you can see that the Message Center is displaying the error “Configuration variable BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA not defined”.

- Close OpenBuildings Designer and use File Explorer to navigate to the \Standards\DgnLib folder in the applicable WorkSet. In this example the delivered NM WorkSet is used: “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Building_Examples\worksets\BuildingTemplate_NM\Standards\DgnLib”.
- In this \DgnLib folder you can see a file named “ProgramManager.dgnlib”. Copy that file to your newly created WorkSet under \Standards\DgnLib and restart OpemBuildings Designer.

- After restarting OpenBuildings Designer you should no longer see that error message. The reason behind the error was that missing *.dgnlib file in the newly created WorkSet.
