Problem Description

How can I resolve the "Configuration variable BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA not defined" error in OpenBuildings Designer for a newly created WorkSpace and WorkSet?

Steps to Accomplish

Please follow the below steps through which you can quickly resolve the BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA error for a newly created workspace.

  1. After creating a new WorkSpace and WorkSet in OpenBuildings Designer, when you create a new file you can see that the Message Center is displaying the error “Configuration variable BB_PROGRAMMANAGER_DATA not defined”.

  1. Close OpenBuildings Designer and use File Explorer to navigate to the \Standards\DgnLib folder in the applicable WorkSet. In this example the delivered NM WorkSet is used: “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Building_Examples\worksets\BuildingTemplate_NM\Standards\DgnLib”.
  1. In this \DgnLib folder you can see a file named “ProgramManager.dgnlib”. Copy that file to your newly created WorkSet under \Standards\DgnLib and restart OpemBuildings Designer.

  1. After restarting OpenBuildings Designer you should no longer see that error message. The reason behind the error was that missing *.dgnlib file in the newly created WorkSet.
