Overview

In OpenPlant PID Update 10, the new configuration variable “OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION” has been introduced. This variable provides an option to maintain a connection between an Equipment and a Nozzle when any Nozzle is detached from the Equipment.

In this wiki article, we will explore the implementation of this variable along with the results.

Steps To Accomplish

  1. Load OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

  2. Place a Vessel and add a couple of nozzles on it.

  3. Search for the Configuration Variables dialog in the search ribbon field.

  4. In the Configuration Variables dialog, search for the OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION variable.

    Case I :-

When OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 0 (Connection is not broken if nozzle is moved off equipment)

  1. Set value of OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 0. Click ok and save all changes.

  2. Verify the result by dragging the nozzle off the equipment. Place Annotation for the nozzle by right clicking on it and selecting, “Annotate”. Place the “NAME” property to see that the Nozzle maintained the  connection with the equipment.

    Case II :-

    When OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 1
(Connection is broken if a nozzle is moved off equipment.)

  1. Set value of OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 1. Click ok and save all changes.

  2. Verify the result by dragging the nozzle off the equipment. Place Annotation for the nozzle by right clicking on it and selecting, “Annotate”. Place the “NAME” property to see that the relationship between the nozzle and equipment has been broken.

    CASE III :-

When OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 2 (A Prompt for keeping the connection or breaking the connection)

  1. Set value of OPPID_NOZZLE_DRAG_CONNECTION_OPTION = 2. Click ok and save all changes.

  2. Drag the nozzle off the equipment. A Prompt will appear which gives the option of keeping the connection between the nozzle and equipment or not.

Click Yes for Keeping Connection between nozzle and equipment

Click No for Breaking Connection between nozzle and equipment

  3. Place Annotation for the nozzle and Verify the result as mentioned in Case I and Case II.
