Overview
In Plantsight + OpenPlant Modeler environment, the requirement is to reference out the certain area around the equipment, Structure, etc for further designing. Currently, there is a facility to reference out the things from explorer. At a time we can only reference out one equipment or service etc. Let’s discuss the same by taking one example. There is one model which is checked in to plantsight currently & there we have to reference out the things which are in the surrounding of the equipment as shown

This wiki article explains the procedure that how to reference out things by volume around the equipment.
Steps to Accomplish
- Launch OpenPlant Modeler with the desired connected project in Plantsight portal.
- Open Explorer tab, expand the plantsight , unit & search for 50-EX-102 under Equipment as shown

- Right click on equipment & click on check out or reference out as shown

Note: Check-out is to edit or add something in model & Reference-out is just for reference, no edit or adding is possible. It’ll be just for view purpose.
- For now, let’s click on check-out option. Equipment 50-EX-102 is now checked-out as shown

- Now, to view or reference out the area around the equipment, go to Plantsight ribbon & create a slab around it as shown

- Select the slab & click on the reference out option as shown

- Volume options will now pop up. This allows selecting exactly what commodity, the designer wants to reference out. For the moment we checked on all the options as shown. Click ok once done.

- Notice that, all the things is now reference out.

- The designer now can take the reference & start the further modeling. One can select only a specific option in step-8 to reference out.
- Once done, references can be cleared out before or after check-in. The option is available in the same ribbon as shown
