Troubleshooting for installation issue of OpenPlant suits like OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT, OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT and OpenPlant PID CONNECT.

Background

In this wiki article, we will explore the possible troubleshooting methods to resolve issues faced during installation of OpenPlant suits. In general installation issue has been observed on machines where Microsoft Office 32 bit is installed. The installation struck at installation of Access Database Engine/SQL Server Express and prompt an error code as 0xFFFFFFFF.

Pre-requisites

  1. Deployment image of respective OpenPlant product.

  2. Setup of Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Service Pack 2

  3. Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 x64-bit

Steps to Accomplish

  1. From workstation, navigate to control panel and search for installed components of Microsoft Access Database Engines. It might be that in your machine multiple databases with different versions are enlisting. Sample reference image as.

  2. Un-install all the Microsoft Access Database engines.
  3. From File Explorer, locate the download file of Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 x64-bit.
  4. Click on the address bar of file location and type CMD as shown below.

  5. Enter the setup name then include a <space> <slash> and keyword as <quiet>. Refer as shown to image below.



  6. This will silently install Microsoft Access Database Engine x64-bit over installation of Microsoft Office 32 bit.
  7. From the deployment folder of respective product, in this case OpenPlant Modeler. Search for msi file and double click on the same to install the product.
  8. Once installation is done, please don't load OpenPlant Modeler. We need to install few more components to make it work properly.
  9. Install Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 Service Pack 2 both version 32-bit as well as 64-bit.
  10. From the deployment folder install 1.4.5 then SPCServerSetup08.11.11.21


  11. Run OpenPlant Modeler, it should load without any error message.
