Background

In a situation where an equipment which has large quantity of nozzles present it becomes difficult to accommodate all the lines in 1 P&ID, in such a situation we need to have the same equipment in a different P&ID however the nozzle numbers need to be different. Following are the steps that will help to achieve such requirement.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Create 2 drawings. PID-1.Dgn & PID-2.Dgn

  2. Place a Tank/Equipment in PID-1 and placed nozzles on the top.

  3. In PID-2, place the same tank with same tag number but with different nozzle numbers

  4. Sync the first drawing i.e., PID-1 to PlantSight.

  5. Sync the second drawing PID-2 to PlantSight, the system will find a duplicate tag i.e. the tag of the tank.

  6. Click on the “Link selected” option and close the “Model Validation” prompt
NOTE: Avoid Fix Business Keys option this will increment the tank tag number.

  7. Sync again, you can observe that the Tag of the Tank (50-T-0001) is not incremented.

  8. Open the PlantSight portal, and select the “Tag Management”

  9. Navigate to the Equipment > Container > Vessel > Tank, select column and right click on it and select “Edit Properties”

  10. In the related properties you can see that the tank 50-T-0001 is present in both the drawings i.e. PID-1 & PID-2

Navigate to the Nozzles and you can observe that the Nozzles N1 to N6 are present in

PID-1 & Nozzles N7 to N12 are present in PID-2
