Problem Description

In OpenPlant Isometric Manager CE, the requirement is to remove the insulation tracing from some of the piping components to calculate the correct insulation length. Let’s understand this by taking a small example. There is one pipe elbow & valve in the pipeline, modeled in the dgn, the image of which is attached below.

Upon extracting the isometric of the above assembly, the default isometric is as follows:

Notice that, the valve & pipe elbow is traced by insulation. This wiki article explains that, how to remove the insulation tracing for selected piping components.

Steps to Accomplish

    1. From the mentioned path below, open overrides.txt file as shown.
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\-workspace-name-\WorkSets\-workse-name\Standards\OpenPlant\Isometrics\styles\Check\config

    Note: one can open any desired style. Here, for e.g Check style is taken.

  1. Paste the mentioned rules for valve & elbow in the file & save it as shown

    RULE: don’t show insulation on valve
    INCLUDE = EC_CLASS=.*VALVE.*
    ShowInsulation = 0

    RULE: don’t show insulation on valve
    INCLUDE = EC_CLASS=.*LONG_RADIUS_90_DEGREE_PIPE_ELBOW.*
    ShowInsulation = 0

    Note : One can add similar rules for any other piping components as well.

  2. Generate an isometric with the same style in which rules is mentioned. (Check style here).

  3. Attached below the image to see the results.

    Notice that, the insulation trace is now being removed from valve & pipe elbow.
