How to Convert Spec to different Unit via SpecGen.

Background

In OpenPlant Specification generator, requirement is to convert the specs to different units. This is done to avoid duplicity in the work & to save the project hours. This wiki article explains how to use the tool unit converter in SpecGen to convert the spec. For example, we will convert the EX-OPM spec from Imperial to Metric. Initially, let’s say for elbow table the main & run size is shown as follows.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Specification Generator CONNECT Edition for desired workspace/workset.



  2. Open the required spec as shown below.

  3. From Tools, click on Unit Converter as shown.



  4. Unit conversion utility dialogue will evoked. Select Source unit, Target unit & precision value as desired ( Here Source is Imperial & taget in Metric). Attched the snap for the same below.

  5. Click on Add, to select the source file ( here A1)



  6. Select source file from desired location. Please see the attached image below.



  7. Now, click on browse to select the desired output location. Once done tick the Repair SysIDs option & click on convert as shown



  8. Notice that conversion process is started as shown



  9. Once done see the status in message center below as converted.



  10. Now verify the results, by opening the output file, the location of which is given above in step-7.



    Notice that the units has been converted to Metric from Imperial.
