Background

Sometimes user needs to create their own Catalog using some excel file which has all the data. In this exercise we will try to import data from given excel file . Below is the illustrative example for the same.

For More Information please check the help content file in OpenPlant Project Administrator and search for Catalog Editor.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition.

  2. Click on Desired workset and expand the node, select OpenPlant Modeler and then click on Tools Tab and launch specification generator.

  3. From OpenPlant Specification Generator window, navigate to tools tab and click on Catalog editor.

  4. Click NEW to create new catalog as we will save our imported excel data in this catalog. Give the name to Catalog let’s say TEST_CATALOG and save the catalog as .mdb file.

  5. In Edit Schema window, click on Add tables or press “Ctrl +”, lets say we want to add new table for Relief Valve for this exercise and hit Ok.

  10. Click on + icon on the Right-hand side, which will start adding, below fields are shown for illustration.

  11. Now click on Import Button and this will import data from excel and Export Successful message will pop up. Like shown below.

  12. Click on Close button and in Catalog Editor windows, in select  table select Relief valve and verify opening the newly create catalog by clicking on Open Button.

NOTE : Before saving mdb file, we can use preview button as well to see how the catalog looks like after adding fields.
