How to Cascade Actuator Label Display From Control Valve to Bubble Annotation in OpenPlant PID Conne

Background

Requirement is to populate Actuator Display Label from control valves on bubble annotation placed on it. This can be achieved by making changes into the schema using class editor. Please refer below snapshot.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch class editor and load OpenPlant_PID schema.

    Navigate:C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas

  2. Supplement it with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08.ecschema

  3. Go to INSTRUMENT_ANNOTATION class and switch to properties tab.



  4. Add new property on this class.



  5. Name the property as you like. For example, name it CRM_ACTUATOR_DISPLAY_LABEL as shown below.



  6. Select BUBBLE_LOCATION property and copy 'Category' custom attribute.





  7. Select CRM_ACTUATOR_DISPLAY_LABEL property and paste the custom attribute.



  8. Go to INLINE_CONTROL_VALVE class and switch to Properties tab.

  9. Select DEVICE_TYPE_CODE property and copy "Notify Related Component of Property Value Change"





  10. Go to INLINE_CONTROL_VALVE class and override ACTUATOR_DISPLAY_LABEL property.



  11. Paste the custom attribute on this property, which was copied in step 9.



  12. Change the target property name in the custom attribute to CRM_ACTUATOR_DISPLAY_LABEL as shown below.



  13. Save the changes in schema and load OpenPlant PID to verify the result.



    Note: If you want to see the actuator label on all types of control valves, then you will to perform step 8 to 12 for all control valve type of classes.
