Error or Warning Message

Could not establish database connection.

Explanation

When trying to connect to the database using the Exor menu in Spatial Manager, the error message above appears.

How to Avoid

Option 1 If other users can log in successfully using the same server

  1. Try logging in to Highways using the same credentials.  This can happen if extra messages pop up when you log in, for example a warning about password expiry, which Spatial Manager cannot display.  Reset your password to stop the message popping up and you should then be able to log into Spatial Manager successfully.

Option 2 If nobody can log in successfully

  1. If it has never worked, check the installation documentation about configuring the database connection.  Contact Bentley Support if the configuration seems correct.
  2. If it was working but has stopped, check the database server is running, e.g. by logging into Highways.  If it is, check with your IT team whether any changes have been made to the network or firewall that could prevent the Spatial Manager server 'seeing' the database server.
