Problem

We would like to use Microsoft's System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM) to
monitor the status and health of the Exor application server and the Exor database server.

SCOM is a Microsoft systems management tool that looks at different sources on the monitored device as well as the Windows event logs through an installed agent. Its function is to gather this information from all interconnected devices that together provide a service offering and to create dashboard type user interfaces to alert staff to current and emerging issues that will affect that service delivery.

Any advice on what are the critical services that run on these two servers that would give any indication of whether or not the application or database are having issues would be gratefully appreciated.

Unfortunately we do not provide guidance or make recommendations on third party tools eg SCOM,Solarwinds, etc  or on how to use them.
