Zero costed work orders

Problem

Zero costed work orders cannot be authorised.

1.raise a work order – this needs to be a zero cost one. Item is a rogue, priced at 1.00 on contract.
2.assign a boq add zero to dim 1 tab out of field, rate is 1.00  – note boq quantity not calculated and no cost for boq
3. cannot save this order as null cost
if try to save get message HWAYS-0117:Field must be entered
if exit closing boq form get further error message
ORA-01400:cannot insert NULL into (“HIGWAYS”.”BOQ_ITEMS”.”BOQ_EST_DIM1”)
4. Work around for now type 1 in dim1 then tab  to force recalc then go back and retype 0 tab , then can save ok.as work order cost ,work order line boq all zero costed as opposed to null. So allows authorisation/instruction if required.
5. Note you have a zero costed boq on work order the boq gets a zero cost and saves, however the work order line and work order remain null. This means the order cannot be authorised/instructed later. Again work around is to force a recal of a boq by adding a cost > 1 , then removing to force a recalculation of work order and line to zero cost. Order can then be authorised/instructed. Or change zero costed boq to a penny so cost > 0 generated and issue wont occur. It doesn’t do this in v4500.
6. Also applies to cyclic work orders

Solution

Ensure patch MAI 4.7.0.0 Fix 23 applied into your system to overcome the zero cost issue
