Background
Depending on your system's configuration, passwords may expire or be locked, for reasons such as:
- a regular password reset is missed
- the account is not used for a certain amount of time
- too many incorrect password entries
- user forgets their password
This wiki describes how to unlock accounts and reset user's passwords in Highways by Exor and ALIM Document Manager. Please note, if the user is logging in via IMS (i.e. with their email address as the username), Bentley colleagues cannot set their password for them. In that case users need to go to https://ims.bentley.com and follow the 'forgot password' instructions.
Steps to Accomplish
Highways by Exor
For Highways by Exor, log in as the Highways Owner User (usually called Highways or Atlas). Navigate to Exor / Security / Users and query back the relevant user by pressing F7 or clicking Enter Query in the toolbar, enter their username then press F8 or click Execute Query. Check the Status field.

Option 1 Status is Open but end date is populated.
- Contact Bentley Support for a script to remove the end date.
Option 2 Status is Expired and / or password forgotten.
- Click in the Password field and type in a new password.
- Save your changes.
Option 3 Status is Locked and unlock button active
- Click the Unlock User button.
- Save Changes
Option 4 Status is Locked (Timed) and unlock button greyed out
- End-date the user by pressing the delete button (red 'x' in toolbar)
- Save your changes
- Re-query the user
- The unlock button should now be active. Click the button

- Follow instructions for Option 3
ALIM Document Manager
For ALIM Document Manager, log in to eB Director as the ADMIN user. In the Search drop-down choose People and search on the User's surname or login. Please note this search is case-sensitive. Double click the appropriate user in the search results to bring up the user's details.

Option 1 Non-IMS Account is Active but password forgotten
- In the User Account Information section, enter a new password. If you are resetting a password for an account that is also used in Highways by Exor it must be the same password you set the Exor one to
- Click the save icon in the User Account Information section and the one in the main toolbar.
Option 2 Non-IMS Account is disabled
- In the Person section change the Status to Active
- In the User Account Information section change the Status to Enabled
- Click the save icon in the User Account Information section and the one in the main toolbar
Option 3 Account uses IMS Login

- Under User Account Information scroll down to the Bentley Authentication Accounts section.
- If there are no details for the user, enter their email address for the username, 'Bentley IMS' for the method and make sure the status is Enabled. If the user details are there but disabled just change the status.
- Click the little save icon at the end of that record (it'll appear next to the red 'x' in the screenshot above), then the word Save on the User Account Information header, and the save icon in the main toolbar at the top.
