Problem/Symptoms:
After “eB FTR text extraction jobs” and indexing complete the cataloging for text extraction; but eB FTR searches fail to return or locate any PDF files while other file type searches return successfully.
Cause of the issue:
The likely cause of the issue is the PDF ifilter version in use is not compatible with the MS indexing service.
Solution:
Make sure to use a version of PDF ifilter that is compatible with the MS indexing technology. If the ifilter is not compatible or have compatibility issues with the MS indexing service, the PDF indexing data will not be available. The eB FTR search for text within a PDF format file will fail and no PDF files will return from the search.
The following two ifilters have tested to work correctly with MS indexing service and eB PDF search:
Adobe ifilter Version 9 and Foxit ifilter
Adobe ifilter Versions higher than version 9 does not work correctly with MS indexing for eB FTR searches. Therefore, we do not recommend using those versions.
Another option that we have test to work is the Foxit PDF ifilter. Make sure to use the newest version that is compatible with the MS indexing technology.
Note: Foxit ifilter will require licensing from Foxit software.
