Adding additional Search Criteria

Purpose of this wiki is explains how to add an additional search to the AssetWise ALIM search menu. The example used is to add an additional field to be able to search on the Document with an additional field.

Quick and Extended Searches are in fact AssetWise ALIM Report objects and are also defined in the eQL Report Designer. Interactive, Quick and Extended Searches are typically presented to the AssetWise ALIM User in the Search Navigator pane in AssetWise ALIM.

1) Log onto AssetWise ALIM as a user that has the right to manage searches.

2) Navigate to the search navigator [view] and expand the “Manage” option by selecting the down arrow to the left of the word “Manage”. The Extended Search, Quick Search and Reports folders will display. Expand the “Quick Search” option.

 

3) The Quick search expands with all the current searches defined as a folder with a magnifying glass on it. Select the “Document” search.

The CORE-CORE-QS-DOCUMENTS Document search will now be displayed in the contents frame on the right Select the “Edit” option (top right) to be able to edit the search.

4) Change the “Name” AND “Code” of the search

5) Select “Open Report Designer” on the right Select the “Fields” option. This will allow the user to select additional criteria that can be added on the search

6) In Open Designer Window you can put additional search criteria from Field. For eg. Attribute

Type in a comma after every additional field that is added

7) Once the user is complete with the “Define Search” window select the link for the “Format Layout” window and change the selections to what should be visible and displayed in the search results.

8) Note: You can select and drag and drop fields in your search criteria to change the display order.

Once the user is complete select the “Save” button which will return the user to the Core quick search screen. Add the newly created search by selecting the “Save” icon on the toolbar.

9) Once added click the double down arrow next to “Security” topic Remove the “View” permission from Admin person, allowing the security to look as follows

Click the “Save” icon on the Security topic line.

The Quick search is now defined and can be used to search with. Hit “F5” on the keyboard to refresh. When dropping down the Quick Search, notice the newly added search.

9) Once added click the double down arrow next to “Security” topic Remove the “View” permission from Admin person, allowing the security to look as follows

1) Click “Query Reports” at the end of the “Extension of Quick Search” line.

2) Drag the  result to the “Extension of Quick Search” line Make sure the “Extension of Quick Search” has the quick search code of the one created earlier in this document.

3) Select the “Save” icon on the toolbar. The Extended search is now defined and can be used to search with. Hit “F5” on the keyboard.
