“Failed to create an IPC Port: Access is denied” error while trying to login to the APM Client

Problem:

Sometimes you may get an error message as shown below while trying to login to the APM Client as a Bentley Connect User.

Solution:

If this error occurs, try the following list of resolutions in order to successfully login to the APM Client.

  1. Wait 5 minutes, try again.
  2. If above does not work, open the Task Manager, and check if you can see the IvaraClient process running. If it is, then kill that process. Wait for 5 minutes, launch the application again and try to login to the APM Client.
  3. If the above does not work, restart your system. Once it is restarted, try launching the application. Check if you can login to the APM Client.
  4. If the above does not resolve the issue, then uninstall the APM Client and then reboot the system. Once the system in restarted, install the APM Client. After installation, launch the Client and check if you can login to the APM Client.

If none of the above mentioned solutions resolves the issue, please raise a service request to APM Support.
