Our current IVARA (APM) system exposes its web services via the WCFHostPlugins service provider. It is currently open to anyone having access to the server. Is there a way to implement SSL and authentication on these services
Yes. APM services do support https for versions 7.3 onwards, see the APM installation instructions pages 105 to 109.
Out-of-the-box services can have their protocols set to HTTPS either globally or changed on a service by service basis.
For custom services code needs to be updated.
There is a button on the Configuration tool to Register Certificates in version 7.6
