Problem

ODC Polling tries to collect indicator readings from a online from a SQL Server database fails with "IndexOutOfRangeException Index was outside the bounds of the array."

The tag name that was generated using ODC Data Source Configuration turned out to be longer than the APM Tag name limit of 100 characters. The SQL Statement used to generate tag names selected Plantname, TagName and Description. When investigated, the tag name generated had several dozen blank spaces appended at the end.

Solution

This has been reported as a bug in the VSTS #51982. The workaround is to use an RTRIM in the SQL Statement to remove the blank spaces.
