Problem
APM cannot create an SAP Notification (via Alarm Acknowledgement) or ABC Indicator change (via Asset Prioritization Analysis/Consequence Priority update) in SAP but can view SAP objects successfully from the SAP Portal. This is usually due to the ZAPM External Data Provider set-up in SAP requiring more stringent authentication. APM SAP Interoperability only supports Basic Authentication.
Solution
When SAP is not set-up to accept Basic Authentication by default for all users/ services, you may need to adjust the authentication rules in SAP for the ZAPM External Data Service in order for APM to successfully create new Notifications or push changes to ABC Indicator in SAP.
Important - these following changes are made in SAP and will need a restart of the SAP Environment to load properly.
How to un-inherit a Service’s Authentication in SAP and use Basic Authentication in SAP:
1.Find the zapmexternaldata service in SAP.
Note - This is the service that was set-up in Chapter 2 of the APM Interoperability Guide for SAP Plant Maintenance, page 11. For reference, this guide is found in the APM install folder using the following path by default;
C:\Program Files\Bentley\AssetWise Performance Management\Docs\English\Technical_Guides.
2. Update the ZAPMExternalData Service via “Change a Service”.
3. Change the Procedure to “Basic Authentication”.
Additional action.
Once the above the ZAAPM External Data Service is set-up to use Basic Authentication, you may still get an error when trying to send the notification of ABC Indicator update. In this case, you will need to update the SAP External Data Provider in APM with a parameter to bypass secondary authentication. To do this, simply add the phrase "?spnego=disabled" at the end of the SAP External Data Provider URL in APM.
