Debugging Remote Synchronization problems

Problem

Remote Synchronization is not functioning as expected.

Solution

Open the Settings Editor for the server instance(s) that runs the remote replication service, and add the following logging:

  1. Open the Settings Editor for the Service that runs the remote replication server instance.
  2. Click on the Logging tab.
  3. On the What to Log tab, click on the New Rule toolbar button, and select the New Rule from Template option.
  4. On the Rule Templates dialog, select Ivara Remote in the lefthand pane.
  5. Click the OK button to save
  6. Click the Save button on the Settings Editor dialog.

Review the remote replication service's server log file, looking for messages that pertain to the Ivara.Replication category.

If you require assistance the the log file review, please submit a Service Request to APM Support clearly stating the problem area, if one has not already been entered. Be sure to attach the remote replication server log to the Service Request.

NOTE: After messages have been logged, and investigation of the service request is competed, remember to turn off remote replication logging. This can be accomplished by returning to the Settings Editor utility, and deleting the Ivara.Replication.* logging rule. The change will be effective immediately, so there is no need to stop & restart the server instance.
