Problem

Panasonic Barcode scan results in extra characters being appended to the Employee name field when a user logs in to APM Remote. This has been encountered on the Panasonic Toughbook FGZ1-04 device only.

Solution

This is a configuration problem with the barcode reader drivers. As instructed, you need to use the Panasonic configuration utility to turn disable “Symbology” and suffix or prefix and then update the “ini” file and apply those setting to the device

Here are the screenshots for you to include in your imaging instructions and troubleshooting section in case you haven’t captured them yet.

Step 1. Open the Panasonic Barcode Configuration Utility and make the following changes.

Ensure that Symbology ID: disabled. (originally was AIM)
***This is the one that put the characters at the beginning.

Ensure Barcode Reader Suffix: blank (was CR/LF)
***This is the one that put the CR/LF at the end.

    Ensure Barcode Reader Prefix: blank

Step 2. Save and apply settings on the device:

Save the settings to an “ini” file ( select from the menu “File -> Save”)
*** this will allow the user to easily load and re-apply the setting to the device
Apply the settings to the device (select from the menu “Tools -> Apply Configuration”)

Step 3. Repeat steps 1 & 2 on all FZG1-4 devices

For the Agrium APM Remote troubleshooting guide:

When a barcode scan is unsuccessful, capture the Window’s warning message. If the message contains extra characters, such as the “]C0“ at the start of the user’s login name, update the barcode setting using the Panasonic Barcode Configuration Utility.
