Problem :
What are the different terminologies used in Amulet?
Solution :
Listed below are most of the terminologies used in Amulet, with their description :
- Points – Individual items that we store data against. Points can be generic, process parameter, calculated parameter or XY.
- Generic and Process Parameters behave in the same way but have a different icon – there is no other difference. Generic and Process Parameters store the raw data.
- Calculated Parameters allows users to configure calculations. Their data comes from the results of the calculations.
- XY Points are used to represent assets such as a pipeline (distance at points along the pipeline for example) where there are multiple readings per timestamp. Not used very often as there is a very limited set of widgets to display the data.
- Data – Numerical, time series data. Timestamps must be unique to dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss level, per point. The data can be from any source - temperatures, cost, distance, levels, age etc. Data can also be created from calculations within Operational Analytics.
- Data Collectors – Used to collect data from external sources and import to Operational Analytics. Sources can be databases, files – csv, excel, ftp sites. Also known as DCF, Data Collector Frameworks, File Importers.
- Containers – Used when building up the hierarchy. Containers are used to group containers and points and are like folders in Windows Explorer.
- Sites – When using the dashboard tree structure, the containers can sometimes be referred to as sites.
- Hierarchy / Structure - This is how the user will see their plant / platform / site / store. Built using Containers and Points.
- Data Tree Explorer – Functionality within Operational Analytics. Where we build up the hierarchy structure.
- Dashboard Tree – Visual representation of the hierarchy. Used for filtering on the dashboard.
- Dashboards – These are used for representing the information and display the individual widgets.
- Widgets – These are used to display data. There are a wide range of widgets – graphs, pie charts, custom tables, document registers, images, maps etc.
- Alarms – Alerts to indicate a value is above or below a set range.
- Organization / Org – Part of the security. The user organization or department within a larger organization.
- Groups - Groups belong to organizations. This determines what functionality users get access to.
- Users – Users belong to groups. Individual login accounts to the system.
- Attributes / Properties – Meta data that is stored against an asset (container) or data point. For example the information that is on a Pump name plate could be stored as attributes / properties. This data can then be surfaced in various widgets along-side time series data for the asset in question.
- Templates – Repeating identical structures within the hierarchy – eg an Energy Monitoring System that consists of 1500 Electric meters – the structure of the Electric Meter and the data points within the Meter are identical, so build it once and copy the same structure 1500 times.
- Replication – Larger systems built from Templates – Operational Analytics is built with a partner "Operation Analytics Template" database and the two databases are synchronized with each other. Connect to the Template database, make your edit to the template and automatically replicate this to all instances of that template e.g. Add a new calculation to the Electric Meter template and quickly replicate this to all 1500 instances of that template in the Operational Analytics database.
