If you are having issues where you don't see any components in your larger AutoPLANT Models in Navigator, it could be due to a Navigator configuration.
MicroStation has a variable MS_DWG_MAX_DICTIONARYITEMS that controls the number of Named Groups that it will handle for each given file (There are many types of entities that are considered Dictionary Items of which Named Groups is only one). If the number of named groups exceeds that value, then it won't process any named groups. In the case of AutoPLANT files the components result in a Named Group for each component. So if you have a large number of components in any given file that exceeds the max value for dictionary items, Navigator won't load the named groups into memory - and thus you won't see any components in the Component Browser.
This variable by default has a value of 2000 if it is not defined in your configurations. For Navigator we set the value to 20000 in the delivered AutoPLANT and AutoPLANTPIW *.pcf files.
And to be clear - Navigator will not load into memory as many dictionary items as the variable is set to and then stop... it is an all or nothing variable. If you exceed the MAX value defined by the variable then NO dictionary items (named groups) are loaded into memory.
