How To Run A Basic Interference Detection In Navigator [TN]

Overview

   1. Display the Interference tools by going to Tools->Interference.
   2. Once the ProjectWise Interference Tools bar is loaded, click on the first icon called "Extract Model Data."
   3. This will launch the connection Settings dialog.

NOTE: This dialog is used to create the JSM file(s) which Navigator's Interference Tool will use when checking for clashes. It has a few different options that allow for some customization regarding how the JSM file will be handled. For these steps, the default options will be selected. For more detail on the options, please review the Help files in Navigator.

   4. Press the Create button once all of the options are ready.
   5. A status var will be displayed, then the JSM will be created, just hit the Close button once it is done.
   6. Next hit the Set Up Interference Detection icon.
   7. This will laound the Interference Set Manager dialog.

NOTE: Here a DAT file is created that stores some of the settings for detection such as the JSM file(s) that will be used in the detection. It will also store other settings dealing with the detection process.

   8. To add the JSM files that where just created, click Add under options.

NOTE: Once added, the user can change some of the options such as Mode, Cleareance, and Self Check. Again, for more details on these options refer to the Navigator help files.   

   9. Once everything is setup, Click on the File menu and choose Save As to save the file as a new one or save to override the current one.
   10. After saving the file, go to File->Exit to close out of this tool.
   11. Next, click on the Detect Interferences icon to start the ProjectWise Interference manager Engine.

In this tool, the actual interferences are detected and ouput to a report file and Interference Results File...which will need to be set.

NOTE: Users can also add in the Suppression Rules that are within a file as well among other options available.

   12. For the Interference Set File be sure to browse to and select the *.DAT file that was defined in steps 7-9 above.
   13. The Interference Results File must be set before continuing, to do this press the browse button.
   14. Name the file and hit the Open button.
   15. Once that is se, the Process button becomes active. Press it to start the Detection Tool.
   16. When it is complet, press the Exit button to close this tool.
   17. To access the lst tool, press the Review Interference icon. This will launch the Interference Reviewer dialog.

NOTE: This tool reviews the results from the IOF file that was created in the detection process.

   18. Click File->Open to open the results file that was created in the Detect Interference Tool...the Interference Results File.
   19. The resulting clashes will be displayed in the table. Selecting them will highlight the components in the clash.
   20. Additional information can be added such as the Reviewer and Comments on the clash by the Interference->Edit menu pick.
   21. Other options are included under the Settings pull-down such as Auto-Zoom. The Interferences can also be printed from here under the File menu.
   22. After all of the interferences are checked, the changes can be saved back to the Interference Results File for future use.
