Bentley View
Do you know that Bentley offers a viewer? It's called Bentley View and it allows users to view and print DGN, DWG, and DXF files even if they don't have any MicroStation experience, and even if they don't have access to MicroStation at all. But the best part is, it is FREE.
This product is available to current Bentley SELECT subscribers, as well as to those who don't even own MicroStation. This is because unlike MicroStation, Bentley View does not require a license. It can be downloaded from www.bentley.com/products and does not require an ID and password. Bentley View is also currently available in several different languages such as French, German, Italian, Czech, and Spanish.
Bentley View allows a user to review a file before submitting the final revision to the project manager for final approval. It can read both MicroStation/J and MicroStation V8 files. AutoCAD 2004 files are also supported and can be read. Even though you cannot manipulate data in this product, it can read all the same information that can be created In MicroStation. It supports dimension styles and text styles. It will also read level information from a DGN library file or CSV file.
Bentley View respects your level information, such as what levels are displayed, and which are on/off. It will respect your MicroStation settings and read them.
Fonts and SHX files can be read through Bentley View. True type fonts, custom line styles, and multilines are supported as well.
Reference files and raster data can also be viewed. Raster data is read through Raster Manager and Reference data is read through a User, Site, or Project configuration file. Bentley View can also be configured to use the same user, site, and project information that MicroStation uses.
One of this product's capabilities is its ability to measure and review tag data. This way you can ensure that your roadways are correct in distance and allow for changes to be made if necessary. Tag data can also be reviewed to make sure that the distance shown matches the distance that is measured.
It also allows general printing capabilities. You can do a test print to see what the final output will look like before submitting it in. Bentley view is delivered with a few .plt files, including Printer.plt, ripwin32_gray8.plt, and ripwin32_rgb24.plt.
