Background

You can export the clash results to Microsoft Excel supported formats. The export can be saved to the XSLX, CSV, XLS, XLSB or XLSM formats.

Note: You can export clash results to Excel only if you have installed a working version of Microsoft Excel. If you are using a non-English version of Clash Detection, make sure that the appropriate Microsoft Office Language Pack is also installed. If you do not have Microsoft Excel installed, the clash results can be saved to the CSV file format only.

You also can export clash locations to a global positioning system (GPS). To allow an export to a GPS, you first need to define a Geographic Coordinate System. The export is saved to a GPX file. GPX is an XML data format for the interchange of GPS data between applications and Web services. You can load the GPX file on to a GPS device so that you can take the clash location information with you on-site to view the clashes.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. From the Clash Detection dialog Results tab, make sure the column headers are in the order that you want them to display in the Excel spreadsheet. Only columns displayed on the Results tab are exported to Excel. So if there some columns hidden those won’t be exported.
  2. Select Results > Export All > Excel/CSV. The Export Excel/CSV File dialog opens.
  3. Name the file and click Save. The default file name is Clashes.xlsx.
  4. Open the Excel spreadsheet to view the clashes.

If you have grouped Clashes, exported Excel sheet will look like this:

Also Clash results can be exported using Key-in: CLASHDETECTION CLASHRESULT EXPORT EXCEL <pathname\filename>, where <pathname\filename> is, for example, <d:\temp\Clashes.xlsx>.

If you type the key-in without specifying a path name, the Export Excel/CSV File dialog opens, prompting you to select a name and location for the exported file.

To Export Clash Results to a GPS

  1. Define a Geographic Coordinate System.
  2. In the Clash Detection dialog Results tab, select the clashes or clash group(s) you want to export.
  3. From the Results menu, select Export > GPS. The Export GPS File dialog opens. The controls on this dialog are analogous to those in the Save As dialog.
  4. Set the output location, give the .GPX (GPS Exchange Format) file a name and click Save.
  5. Import the GPX file into a GPS device. You can then take the GPS device on-site to show you the location of the clashes.
